| Course Descriptions Bus. 100 - BASIC BUSINESS ENGLISH Basic Business English is designed to improve the student's knowledge of grammar and structured writing. Bus. 210 - BUSINESS MATHEMATICS I Basic computations, operation with fractions and decimals, conversions. Bus. 220 - BUSINESS MATHEMATICS II Instruction in interest computation, discounting, tax computation, and percentages. Bus. 250 - TEN-KEY BY TOUCH Use of electronic calculators, adding machines, and computer ten-key pads. Bus. 310 - KEYBOARDING I Instruction on basic keyboarding. Bus. 320 - KEYBOARDING II Fundamentals of touch keyboarding and speed drills. Bus. 400 - INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS Using personal computers, disk operating systems (DOS), storage media, use of personal printers, Windows environment. Bus. 410 - WORD PROCESSING Instruction will be given in word processing concepts, hands-on training, general formatting and editing. Bus. 500 - PAYROLL & BANKING Basic instruction in the procedures that are used to prepare bank deposits, issue checks, maintain a record of checking account activities, reconcile the monthly bank statement, and do payroll computations, records and payments. Bus. 510 - BASIC BOOKKEEPING (BK I) An introduction to record-keeping where students will gather, classify, summarize, and report financial information about a business or a nonprofit organization by means of an income statement and a balance sheet.. Bus. 520 - BOOKKEEPING/JOURNALS (BK II) A study of the general journal and the general ledger as applied to a service business. Students will learn to prepare a trial balance on a ten column worksheet, enter the necessary adjustments on it, complete it and prepare financial statements from the completed worksheet. Bus. 530 - BOOKKEEPING-ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE (BK III) A study of the adjusting and closing entries as they create a permanent record of the adjustments that appear on the worksheet. Students will become familiar with special journals and subsidiary ledgers and will learn about more complex financial statements and the controls that businesses build into their accounting systems to ensure honesty, accuracy, and efficiency in recording transactions and handling assets. Bus. 540 - ADVANCED BOOKKEEPING (BK IV) Students will work on Integrated Accounting systems to demonstrate and hone their ability to analyze and record business transactions in the proper special journals (sales, purchases, cash receipts, and cash payments journals) and post them to the corresponding subsidiary ledgers (accounts receivable and accounts payable) in addition to the general journal and general ledger, in a computerized accounting package. Bus. 500 - PAYROLL & BANKING Basic instruction in the procedures that are used to prepare bank deposits, issue check, maintain a record of checking account activities, reconcile the monthly bank statement, and do payroll computations, records and payments. Bus. 545 - INTEGRATED ACCOUNTING This course teaches students an actual market version of a computerized system for tracking business financial activities and maintaining accounting records. Prerequisite: Business 540 Bus. 550 - COMPUTER SPREADSHEET I Entering data and applying formulas; creating accounting records on the computer using commonly found spreadsheet data.. Bus. 560 - COMPUTER SPREADSHEET II Application of spreadsheet principles to accounting records, creating and editing formats for regular accounting entries using a Windows XP environment. Includes the ability to create a graphs and maps. Bus. 605 - OFFICE PROCEDURES Instruction in entry level management. The student will learn to perform filing functions for alphabetic, geographic and numeric filing. Bus. 610 - TELEPHONE SKILLS This course is an introduction to telephone communication to familiarize students to the basic techniques and professional use of the telephone. Bus. 620 - JOB SKILLS This course will prepare the student to obtain employment. Instruction in resume writing, job search techniques, employer expectations and mock interviewing skills will be covered. Bus. 570 - ACCESS Students will learn basic and advanced operations on a database system analyzing and sorting information. |
